Up In Arm's | Romey

Greetings, Fellow PW’ers and Visitors,

It has been quite some time since I’ve checked in. We are well into 2015, and those of us who participate in the annual ab-fest did not ab-dicate our duty this year.

I have sufficiently recovered from the latest test, so I will share the experience with you. I was really proud of myself when Dr. Tim had me add extra weight while doing some bench presses. I did one extra set just to prove to myself that I could. I should have known right then that there was a plan of which I was unaware. Proud of myself for having done the extra set, I did a set of 50 ‘head-to-head’ on the red ball with 10-lb weights. No problem. Then I did 50 ‘touchdowns’ with said weights. Still going strong. One more set of 100 with 5-lb weights, after which I waited for the magic words “on the table.” There were words, alright, but not what I expected (you’d think I’d learn after all these years): “200 with 2-lbs, Romey.” What????? I was not going to be scared off by measly 2-lb weights, but I’ll tell you that my arms felt like jelly afterwards. I kiddingly made some remark about ‘gun control.’ These are the good kind of guns, and I’m proud to have them. Excuse me while I search for a sleeveless top to wear to show them off.

I would like to express my gratitude to Dr. Tim Ramirez for the help and kindness he has shown me. I came to the Doctor with a badly injured ankle caused by an auto accident. I had been on crutches for three months. I was seen by several doctors over the previous three months who all adamantly recommended I have surgery to repair the damage on my ankle. After a detailed visit to Pacifica Wellness, Dr. Ramirez confidently stated he could help me fully recover. For the next six months I spend many hours working to rebuilding my entire body through exercise, chiropractic adjustments, acupuncture...
Another birthday come and gone, Another year gone by. What has been accomplished She wonders with a sigh. Kindness to friends and family, A bit of travel and lots of working hard. Concentration on health and fitness And trying her hand at being a bard. Oh why can’t I do more? It must be a curse. Oh stop those bad thoughts; Things could be worse. She’s always striving to be better, Always thinking in terms of “should.” But as Dr. Tim would say, Don’t worry---it’s all good.
Happy Birthday, Dr. Tim It’s the 20 th of January Oh, what could that mean? It’s a birthday celebration for 2014 We’re sending best wishes to our Dr. Tim Our lives would be so different Without Pacifica Wellness and him So Happy Birthday to you as you begin another year May you continue to teach and to share And forever persevere
Picture this: It’s the first week of January and I. like countless others, have decided to re-dedicate myself to healthful living. In fact, my motto for this year is “Keep it clean in 2014” by which I mean clean living (less stress), clean thinking (positive thoughts) and clean eating (follow the food plan). I have had a very full day at the office, I’ve worked later than I had planned and I’m wondering where the calm has gone after a delightful visit ‘back home’ with family and friends. Nonetheless, I am determined to see Dr. Tim. I drive, park and lay my head on the steering wheel a moment...
My back had been hurting for a long time. I had been to a chiropractor, tried acupuncture, and even saw an orthopedic surgeon but nothing seemed to help. A friend recommended Dr. Tim Ramirez; since my first appointment my back has not hurt me. But that is not the amazing part: At age sixty-five, I am getting stronger and healthier. My first appointment with Dr. Tim was a regular treatment: stretching, massage, heat. At my second appointment I was doing crunches and lifting weights. “Oh no,” I thought, “I always hurt myself when I lift weights.” But Dr. Tim watched me closely and knew exactly...
I’ve recovered from my second hip replacement surgery this year. I now have two new hips and I can hardly believe how good it feels to be without pain. In fact, I almost don’t trust the good feeling because pain had become part of the fabric of my being. Again, surgery was a success and once again I exceeded expectations in physical therapy. As I mentioned in my previous blog, I credit Dr. Tim for helping me to keep as strong as possible. I’ve been back at Pacifica Wellness for a couple of weeks now. The warm welcome that I received from Dr. T and everyone who sees me for the first time post-...
I almost skipped a workout the other day because I was in a great deal of pain, but I decided to go anyway. I like being at Pacifica Wellness because of Dr. Tim and all the great people who are his clients. I don’t like being the center of attention due to my pronounced limp. I kept more to myself than usual so I could focus on the exercises rather than my pain. I also did not want to take away everyone else’s sense of well-being. Nothing goes unnoticed by Dr. Tim and he was being especially encouraging to me without making a big deal of it. I kept moving but the pain kept getting worse and I...
I’ve been very grateful that my recent surgery was a success. I understand that it takes time - longer than we anticipate - to fully recover. I think our minds recover faster than our bodies. I’ve been working with Dr. Tim to regain the muscle tone that I lost. He’s been diligent in his care for me, always making sure that I’m not doing something that would hinder my progress while encouraging me to test the boundaries of my strength and balance. I’ve been unable to do any lower body workouts, so we’re concentrating solely on upper body. That’s great because I’m actually preparing for a...
Greetings, dear readers. I’m back at PW after a bit of a hiatus while I was preparing for and then recuperating from hip replacement surgery. All in all it was a positive experience, but what I want to share with you is how my working with Dr. Tim contributed in large part to my success thus far. Over the years, I tried various protocols to deal with the pain. I got to the point when the only option was surgery. Not surprisingly, Dr. T supported me wholeheartedly. It became nearly impossible for me to do lower body exercises, so with Dr. Tim’s guidance, I concentrated on upper body. I was...
